It’s hard to believe another year has come and gone. We love doing these annual round-ups, and we somehow missed this in 2024. But we’re back with our tradition!
We’re so proud of the work our volunteer editorial and reading team has done to produce six amazing issues and lots of content in between.
We’re grateful for our contributors, guest writers, and event speakers for making what we do possible.
We’re incredibly thankful for our Friends of Hippocampus, who’ve made one-time and recurring gifts to help support what we do.
While our in-person conference, HippoCamp is still on indefinite hiatus and our small press division is taking a pause from publishing new single-author titles, we remain excited about what’s to come. Thank you for being part of our journey.
First, a look ahead for 2026:
While we were founded in 2010, our first issue went live in May 2011. That means 2026 marks 15 years of publishing creative nonfiction.
We continue to be driven and guided by our motto: Entertain, Educate, and Engage Readers and Writers of Creative Nonfiction. The magazine — and all of our content — is the heart of what we do.
Look for an announcement soon (and we may update this post later to reflect the news!) about something fun happening to commemorate this big milestone.
2026 will, of course, bring six new bimonthly issues and monthly reviews/interviews/columns to keep you reading — and plenty of new How-To Tuesdays and Stories on Sundays to keep you learning and engaging.
Now, let’s reflect on 2025
A text version of this infographic is below.

Once again, thank you for supporting our independently run, self-sustaining journal. These amazing facts and stats above would NOT be possible without our readers, contributors, attendees, and volunteers.
One more stat for you:

Thank you again for being part of our community. We hope to see you online, on the socials, and at one of our events in the new year.
Cheers,
Donna Talarico, founder and publisher
On behalf of our whole team
