HippoCamp: A Conference for Creative Nonfiction Writers Voted Best Writing Conference in Pennsylvania by readers of The Writer

Each year, The Writer polls its readers about writing conferences. Specifically, they’re looking for writers to share their pick for the best writing conference in their state. We’re absolutely stunned and speechless (unless this blog post counts as talking!) that we were voted the best writing conference in Pennsylvania for 2020.

This honor means a lot to us because we’re a new(er) annual writing conference, and we also focus on a specific genre: creative nonfiction — and especially because the conference is 100% registration-dependent and volunteer-run, and it’s produced by a self-funded, independent literary journal with no institutional support. We’ve grown by leaps and bounds only because of an engaged, supportive community of readers, contributors, conference attendees, and volunteers.

This year, Aug. 14-16, 2020, we’ll hold our sixth annual conference for creative nonfiction writers in Lancaster, PA. We’re excited to welcome Carmen Maria Machado as our Saturday evening keynote and scores of other writers and speakers (which will be announced on our official conference website).

Thank you to The Writer magazine for showcasing professional development opportunities for writers — and for all that you do each issue to support writers at every level of their journey. Readers, be sure to grab a print copy of this issue.
